His dynamic playing style and unwavering dedication to his craft quickly garnered him recognition within the music industry.

In 1982, McBrain achieved a significant milestone by joining Iron Maiden, succeeding drummer Clive Burr. He made his debut with the band on their fourth studio album, Piece of Mind, released in 1983. Over the ensuing decades, McBrain’s powerful and precise drumming became a cornerstone of Iron Maiden’s sound, contributing to fourteen studio albums and numerous world tours.

Beyond his work with Iron Maiden, McBrain has been involved in various musical projects and collaborations. He has also been recognized for his contributions to the drumming community, serving as an International Brand Ambassador and Director for the British Drum Company since 2019.

After an illustrious 42-year tenure with Iron Maiden, McBrain announced his retirement from touring on December 7, 2024, following the band’s final show of the “Future Past” tour in São Paulo, Brazil.
