from DrumChannel.com:

Curt Bisquera began playing drums when he was only three. By the time he was five, Curt Bisquera owned his very own kit. Curt Bisquera’s mother and uncle were jazz pianists. So, Bisquera started playing gigs with them. It all took off from there.

Curt Bisquera had no formal training until he attended the Percussion Institute of Technology at the Musician’s Institute. Because he was self-taught, Curt Bisquera placed special emphasis on learning how to read music while he attended the school. Curt Bisquera now counts the ability to read music as one of the most important skills he has ever obtained as a drummer.

While at PIT, Curt Bisquera studied under Joe Porcaro and met Jeff Porcaro through him. Curt and Jeff became fast friends. Curt Bisquera graduated early from PIT, so that he could take a gig drumming for The Time. Eventually, Curt Bisquera got a call from Porcaro who offered him a shot to play on a Boz Scaggs record.

Curt Bisquera’s considers his breakout year to be 1991, the year he played on Bonnie Raitt’s song “Something to Talk About,” as well as Seal’s first album. In the course of his career, Curt Bisquera has become a “first-call” session drummer for albums, film scores, television scores, and even live tours.
